According to the latest monthly data from the Texas Railroad Commission, crude oil flows from the Permian Basin to Corpus Christi (blue line in graph below) declined to 2.36 MMb/d in July, down 26 Mb/d compared to June. This follows the second-highest volume of 2.4 MMb/d in May, with the record high of 2.43 MMb/d set in March 2023. Month-on-month changes across the Permian-to-Corpus pipelines were minimal. Including Eagle Ford volumes picked up along the route, total transported volumes reached 2.56 MMb/d in July.

Four crude oil pipelines link the Permian Basin to the Corpus Christi area — Plains’ Cactus I (390 Mb/d) and Cactus II (670 Mb/d), Enbridge’s Gray Oak (900 Mb/d) and EPIC Crude (600 Mb/d). In July, Gray Oak and Cactus I reported slight decreases in flow, while Cactus II and EPIC saw increases. When factoring in Eagle Ford receipts, combined utilization rates for these pipelines hovered near 100%.
