What is NACON: PADD 3?

The NACON conference featured RBN market analysis and discussions with industry leaders. RBN analysts presented succinct updates on PADD 3 crude and NGL markets, addressing production outlooks, infrastructure developments, demand for U.S. volumes, and the possibilities for one (or more) of the proposed massive deepwater crude oil export terminals. Following each presentation, industry leaders engaged in discussions and in-depth Q&A sessions, focusing on energy products, infrastructure, and markets, covering all aspects of U.S. exports.

Why?

The Gulf Coast remains a fiercely competitive market. Over the past decade, exports have been the only significant growth area for U.S. crude oil and NGLs, with over 90% of these liquids departing from the Gulf Coast. However, the distribution of these volumes across gathering systems, pipelines, processing facilities, and especially export docks has been highly uneven. With more barrels on the horizon, competition for market share among major players is intensifying, impacting producers, midstream operators, and exporters alike.

This was one of the key themes at our recent NACON conference. However, the discussions didn’t stop there. Although oil production growth is decelerating, NGL volumes continue to surge. New Permian NGL pipeline capacity is about to come online, bringing additional benefits to Permian oil and NGLs thanks to new natural gas pipeline takeaways. Permian gas processing capacity is expanding too, and new Mont Belvieu fractionators are being added.
